Day 88: Damp Day

This certainly doesn’t qualify as one of the more attractive photos, but I guess it tells the story of my day.  It was a very damp but pleasant ride to work but I required some improvised drying techniques to get ready for the ride home.  Thankfully no one dropped by my desk during the day.

Day 77: Sea of Bikes

So today was a frantically busy but productive day. I spent today assembling a seemingly endless number of children’s bicycles for the Salvation Army as part of their Bucks for Bikes program which acquires brand new bicycles for needy children on Christmas. It was a great event and I got to meet some more members from OBS whom I hadn’t already met.

Day 70: Fall Errands

After being cooped up inside for a couple of days, a simple ride to get groceries was a welcome trip. With all the leaves changing colors, it was a pretty time to ride.

Day 60: Bike Lust

I took Ms. Blu Haul in for a regular tune-up. Going into bicycle stores is always dangerous for me because there are always so many bikes I want to buy.

Day 57: Cranksgiving

I had the opportunity right before Thanksgiving to take part in a fun cycling event called Cranksgiving. This informal ride takes part in many places around the country and consists of several stops at area grocery stores where riders will pick up selected food items which will then be donated to an area food bank.

Since I can never compete on speed, I put Ms. Blu Haul to good use by going for the most weight which ended up being about 40 lbs of can goods. It was a nice ride and I got to meet some nice folks.

Day 55: A Peaceful Morning
Admittedly this is pure bike porn, but I couldn’t pass up another pretty dawn ride picture. My morning commute remains my hands-down favorite part of my day.

Day 24: Chain Cleaning

I’ve seen the guys who always have spotless gleaming bicycle chains and I know I will never been one of them. However, I do get a lot of satisfaction when I can get most of the grime taken off and a nice bit of clean oil back on.

Day 17: The UFO is Back

The days are getting longer and more of my rides are taking place in the dark. Seemed like a perfect time to put my ground effect lights on the new bike. I had forgotten what a wonderful effect these lights have on my rides. Cars pass with a lot more space with these babies turned on.

Day 9: Bike Workshop In Potentia

We are doing a lot of fall cleaning around the house and I have discovered that I have amassed enough tools and bike parts to make a modest home bike shop. Plus I have two project bikes, a classic Schwinn that needs some basic tuning and my old Cannondale which needs a frame up rebuild. Both perfect winter projects. Now I just need to get the underutilized garage whipped into shape.

Day 6: Ms. Blu-Haul at Work

Several weeks ago my bicycle, Ms. Blu-Haul was vandalized by some creep while locked up outside my office. Thankfully, she now gets to spend the work day in a nice and cozy spot in the file room.

As a small aside, I will try to post my photo on the same day, but sometimes it just won’t be possible . . .
