Le Corbeau Poster
Le Corbeau

I’m unforgivably late on this post. However, my step-father, Mark Price, has a play about Edgar Allen Poe entitled Le Corbeau that is currently being produced here in Oklahoma City by the Oklahoma City Community College.

It is a bizarre and poignant tale of Poe’s last days when he is visited by those he has loved and lost along with, for good measure, the devil. It is an ambitious project that I’ll be extremely happy to see performed.

It will be performed Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 PM. Tickets cost $5.00. If you have the time, I highly recommend coming.

Here are a couple of pre-show articles:

Milton Friedman has a great little editorial in The Australian that is making it’s way through the blogsphere entitled “Battle for free-market agenda is only half won”. It’s a great little read:

After World War II, opinion was socialist while practice was free market; currently, opinion is free market while practice is heavily socialist. We have largely won the battle of ideas; we have succeeded in stalling the progress of socialism, but we have not succeeded in reversing its course

Joel of Joel on Software has another fabulous article out on his website, this time on software pricing. It’s well worth a read even if you could care less about pricing because he’s a pretty funny guy when it comes down to it. For example:

I’m going to start with a little economic theory, then I’m going to tear the theory to bits, and when I’m finished, you’ll know a lot more about pricing and you still won’t know how much to charge for your software, but that’s just the nature of pricing. If you can’t be bothered to read this, just charge $0.05 for your software, unless it does bug tracking, in which case charge $30,000,000 for it.

Well, I have received almost 25 entries of comment spam today. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to deal with cleaning out these entries. So I’m sorry to regret that until further notice, comment moderation has been turned on for all comments on the site. Sorry, I hate to do this but they’ve left me no choice.

The operator of AngryLibertarian.com asked me to pass along the word about an effort to get some of the major pollsters to include Michael Badnarik, the Libertarian presidental candidate, on their opinion polls. For those you are interested you can get more information at: http://www.angrylibertarian.com/badnarik.html.

One of America’s greatest leaders and the only Republican in recent history that I would have voted for, Ronald Reagan died today at the age of 93. Your wisdom and political astuteness will and has already been missed.

Checked the Mini website today. Dominique’s status has been changed from “On Order” to “Scheduled for Production” which apparently means that she is lined up for production or that she’s already in the factory. You can’t really tell. I’ll give the dealership a call to see if they can give me a more exact production date.

Mini Cooper SMini Cooper S 2

Well, I’ve finally done it. My old Toyota, Ruby, is really pushing well past her ability to keep up. She has been an excellent car and has earned her rest. So, this weekend I went up to the local Mini Cooper dealership and ordered myself a brand new Yellow and White Mini Cooper S with exactly what I wanted. Downside to this approach is that I now have to wait 8-9 weeks to get my new toy and I’m not good with prolonged gratification. However, Mini provides a cool tool on their website that let’s me see exactly where my new baby is in the production process. Since I know you are all as excited as I am, I’m including this status at the bottom of each post so you can keep track along with me. Keep your fingers crossed that Ruby can make it just a bit longer. ;)

Finally, following along with a long tradition of naming your Mini before she’s born, my new Cooper will be named “Dominique”.
